HANDMADE LAUHALA JEWELRY & ACCESSORIES
ABOUT
PoʻoHala is a family business living and working on the island of Molokai, Hawaii.
In the early days, Hawaiians used weaving techniques to create useful materials such as floor mats, baskets and hats. To keep the Hawaiian tradition alive, our great-grandma passed her skills and knowledge of weaving on to her children. This has been practiced and passed down in our family for over 80 years since the 1930's.
Lauhala is the dried leaves of a pandanus tree and we love seeing it's natural beauty in our work without using any dyes. Combined with ancient weaving patterns, our line is inspired by all things seen in nature and the creativity of each artist. We enjoy sharing the tradition of lauhala weaving through our work.
